My name is Jose Ybarra III, and I am proud to announce my candidacy for a seat on the Pontiac School District - School Board. As a lifelong resident and graduate of Pontiac schools, I’ve experienced firsthand the impact our teachers and staff can have on a student’s success. From LeBaron Elementary to the International Technology Academy, I benefited from the passion and dedication of educators who shaped me into the person I am today. Now, I’m excited to give back and ensure that future generations have access to the same opportunities for growth and success.
I hold a degree in Advertising Management from Michigan State University and have spent years investing in our community through nonprofits, local programs, and public service. My most recent experience as an elected official on the Pontiac Charter Commission allowed me to collaborate with community leaders to pass the Charter Revision, a change that will benefit our city for generations. This experience in leadership, teamwork, and advocacy will help me approach challenges on the School Board with a solutions-focused mindset.
If elected, my goal is to listen to the needs of our students, teachers, and families, and work collaboratively to create a learning environment where every student can thrive. I am committed to advocating for policies that ensure equitable resources, safe schools, and strong support systems for our students. Together, we can continue building a brighter future for Pontiac’s schools and its young leaders. Thank you for your support.
Sincerely,
Jose Ybarra III
